The Year in Pictures

It almost goes without saying, it was a big news year. From the tsunami rocking the coast of Asian countries to the Pope's passing and subsequent predecessor being appointed to Hurricane Katrina destorying homes, lives and whole cities on the gulf coast. And in every instance, photojournalists were there to capture these moments -- ones of immeasurable joy and devestatingly tragic loss -- for posterity's sake, as well as to open the world's eyes to what's happening in our own back yard and in the larger global community.

Now, everyone's taking a look back at 2005, one frame at a time:
