RIP Dmitry

Photojournalist Dmitry Chebotayev was killed while on assignment for Russian Newsweek in Iraq on Sunday. Six American soldiers were also killed in the IED blast that hit the Tacoma, Wash.-based unit with which Chebotayev was embedded. Many photographers knew Dmitry through lightstalkers.org where he was an active participant and where he is now being remembered as an all around great journalist, colleague, and friend. Many examples of his work remain online, though the most definitive seems to be his photoshelter account. Dmitry was 29.
