The Got Soul

Not every piece is a winner, but the idea certainly is....

Soul of Athens is a multimedia undertaking by students at the School of Visual Communication at Ohio University. They have immersed themselves in the community, and are finding out through the people and place what gives pulse to Athens, Ohio.

I wonder what would happen if every newspaper in the country did something similar. There would be an amazing amount of community journalism and community-driven content -- and after all, isn't that what a community wants?

The Soul of Athens currently has more than 25 stories produced in a variety of mediums, and one of my favorites is a very personal piece where one of my favorite young photographers turned the camera on himself and shows us about Love in the First Person.
