photos of american dead

the sunday edition of the seattle times published a photo of coffins aboard a military transport plane. the woman who gave the photo to the times, not a professional photographer, has lost her job with a military contractor in kuwait. since 1991 the pentagon has banned media from taking photographs of caskets being returned to the united states.

"she hoped the publication of the photo would help families of fallen soldiers understand the care and devotion that civilians and military crews dedicate to the task of returning the soldiers home."
