To the Directors of the NPPA and POYi:

The following people believe there should be one internationally recognized photojournalism competition based in America.

As long as both the Best of Photojournalism and Pictures of the Year International exist, the value of each is diminished, finite resources are halved and we spend twice the effort entering.

We urge the leaders of NPPA and POYi to team up again to make one great contest. By signing this petition you tell the NPPA and POYi that they should work together for the future of photojournalism.

Sincerely,

Mike Davis, White House photo editor
Scott Strazzante, Chicago Tribune photojournalist and 2001 POYi winner
Rob Finch, The Oregonian photojournalist and 2003 & 2000 POYi winner
Rick Loomis, Los Angeles Times photojournalist and 2003 BOP winner
Melissa Lyttle, Sun-Sentinel photojournalist and creator of aphotoaday.org
Teri Boyd, Seattle Times photo editor
Pim VanHemmen, Director of Photography at The Newark Star Ledger
